FREMONT: Ohlone College Trustee Teresa Cox and Trade Advisor to Obama Administration was sworn into office for her second term at Ohlone Community College on Fremont, California campus. She received the highest votes cast of 34% in Trustee Area 2.
Long time friend, Alameda County Board of Supervisors Richard Valle administered the oath to Ms. Cox. David and Jacqueline Cox, children of The Honorable Teresa Cox, held the family Bible where Ms. Cox placed her hand.
Ms. Cox has many firsts to her credit including being the first woman of color nuclear engineer and first woman of color elected twice at Ohlone College in 55 years.
Honorable Cox dedicated her inaugural speech to her mother who, she said, was the most inspiring and courageous person that she has ever known. Her mother taught her about the importance of education and instilled the value of giving back to the community.
Honorable Cox expressed gratitude to all who were present and in spirit and said she loves them from the bottom of her heart. She thanked all for their support and for believing in her commitment, vision, and desire to bring empowerment to the community.
