CHICAGO: The South Asian Classical Music Society (SACMS) has scheduled its annual fall concert featuring top local and visiting artists on November 6 at 2pm.
Joita Bose Mandal, vocalist now residing in the LA area, and formerly of Naperville, has charmed audiences with renditions of both classical and semi-classical melodies. Top local tabla artist, Subhasis Mukherjee, accompanies her. Chicago area resident Veena artist Saraswati Ranganathan has gained recognition in concerts across US, in Chennai and elsewhere in India. She is accompanied by visiting mrdangamist, Patri Satish Kumar, one of the most sought after and highly rated accompanists in Carnatic music today.
The program takes place at the Indian Boundary Park Cultural Center, a beautiful indoor space located at 2500 W. Lunt (7000 north) in Chicago’s West Rogers Park neighborhood, quite near Devon Avenue. Ample free parking is available on streets adjacent to the park. Admission is free. Donations will be gratefully accepted. The program begins at 2 pm sharp and concludes at 4:30pm.
