CHICAGO: Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard said here that there was a huge scope for close cooperation between United States and India in many areas specifically health, technology, space travel, education and culture, and it would be most appropriate and important to cement the existing ties further between the two democracies, especially after the visit of Indian PM Narendra Modi a month ago.
She indicated that she planned a visit to India in foreseeable future and alluded to the fact that Narendra Modi had invited her personally during her meeting with him in New York. Congresswoman Tulsi was addressing a fundraising dinner meet hosted in Chicagoland by her supporters and fans led by Dr Bharat Barai, Balwinder Singh, Nirav Patel and Vinesh Virani among others.
A good number of professionals, community leaders and elites from all walks of life attended the event on Sunday, October 26 at Schaumburg Hotel & Conferen, in Schaumburg, a northwest suburb of Chicago.
Welcoming guests and Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, Dr Bharat Barai pointed out that Tulsi Gabbard is among the first two female war veterans and the first Hindu member of the US Congress. He observed that she would be a winner in years to come. In terminology of horse racing, she is a horse of long race. She was a staunch supporter of Narendra Modi even before he became the Indian PM. He appealed to all to donate generously towards her fund.
Responding to the warm support and welcome accorded to her, Tulsi Gabbard appreciated the dynamic leadership of Narendra Modi observing “it was a great opportunity to meet him during his recent visit here.”
After her short speech there was a question answer session. Questions were put to her relating to her job, aid to Pakistan, China, women issues , rights and equal opportunity and equal pay etc. She replied to all of them in detail and clarified her views.
Vinesh Virani, community activist, proposed a vote of thanks to Tulsi and all the supporters present. He asked for maximum possible donation observing the legal limit of $5200 per person – whether it comes from a US citizen or a legal US resident.
