CHICAGO: The VHPA of Chicago Chapter and Manav Seva Mandir on Saturday, September 10 organized a Fundraising event for Supporting A Child (SAC) “Krishna Priya” dinner with live performance at Manav Seva Mandir in Bensenville, a north side suburb of Chicago
More than 300 members and guests including representatives of Chicago organizations and community elites attended the program emceed by Yashasvani Desai and Jitendra Diganvker
The program was inaugurated by Nimesh Jani, a Village Trustee of Schaumburg Township with lighting of the ceremonial lamp. He was joined among others by Hetal Patel (VHPA Child Support Coordinator), Rajubhai Chauhan (President of Manav Seva Mandir), Haribhai Patel (President of Bhartiya Senior Citizens of Chicago).
Nirval Paatel of VHPA briefed the audience about the activities of his organization in America and played Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message from India through video transmission
After that Nritya Natya Kala Academy and Kathak Dance and drama Institute (NNA) presented Ganesh Vandna, Shiva Vandna, Krishna Vandna and Tarana , Krishnapriya poetry, narrative about Krishna Janam, ‘Kehen Lage re Mohan Maiya Maiya’ dance about Yashoda and Draupadi Drama dance. It was very well done by Aditi Bhagwat.
Local artist Madhura Sane performed dance ‘Madhuban me radhika naache re’ from Bollywood movie ‘Kohinoor.” Harshada Jambekar, Sushan Jadhav and Aditi Bhagwat performed many dances for about three hours like Aavi Rut milanki ( Radha Krishna), Gherigheri Aayi (Radha Viraha Ras) and JamunaTarana,
Dr Sham Sheth, President of VHPA Chicago Chapter, and J Diganvker appealed all those present to ‘Support a Child – a way to serve and connect to India (Bharat).
SAC provides quality education, food, shelter and health care to homeless boys and girls. Nirval Patel said that “many in India are waiting for your support of $250 a year and you can make a difference in the life of an underprivileged child with your gift of less than a dollar a day. This will provide a child with boarding, lodging, education and Sanskar.” He also urged for Support A Child, Bal Vihar School and Seva in USA
This fervent appeal from organizers led to 130 pledges for Child. At the end of the program VHPA’s Sanjay Shah thanked everybody including volunteers and people of the community.
