New Jersey City, Women Empowerment Telugu Association (WETA) Jhansi Reddy led Bathukamma celebrations at Sai Balaji Temple Monroe Township, NJ. Around 800 adults and children flocked to see the 12-feet Bathukamma and Ammavaru statue, decked in festive finery; women seek blessings of goddess Gouramma amid spiritually surcharged atmosphere.
It is known that “Bathukamma festival” is a symbol of Telangana culture and traditions in the celebrations that come during this Dussehra Navratri days, which is said to be the epitome of female power. Since the establishment of ‘Women Empowerment Telugu Association (WETA)’ every year this Bathukamma festival has been organized with grandeur.
The special attraction of this year’s celebrations is famous movie star and TV Anchor Udaya Bhanu! Udaya Bhanu garu not only played bathukamma with the guests but also entertained all those who came with various programs. She sang traditional songs in unison in praise of goddess gauramma seeking her divine blessings for health, wealth and prosperity for all in the premises of the temple complex.
