DALLAS, TX: The 19th TANA Convention slated to be held at Dallas Convention Center from May 24-26 will have many highlights, including the presence of top dignitaries, literary figures, artists and singers.
Over 300 volunteers are gearing up with full speed to deliver unprecedented programs to showcase the glory of the Telugu. Prasad Thotakura, President of TANA said that ” Padmabhushan Dr. K.J. Yesudas will be one of the star attractions at the Convention as it is for the first time in the history of any Telugu convention that he would attend and sing to the delight of attendees.”
“The legendary singer Dr. K. J. Yesudas has recorded over 50,000 songs and has won scores of accolades including seven national awards and 43 times the state awards for the best playback singer, which consists of awards by the state governments of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and West Bengal. He has recorded more than 50,000 songs in most of the Indian languages including Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Bengali, Gujarati, Oriya, Marathi, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tulu, Malay, Russian, Arabic, Latin and English during a career spanning five decades, ” Thotukara added.
TANA, founded in 1977, is one of the oldest and the largest Indo-American national-level organizations. Telugu Association of North Texas (TANTEX), established in 1986 a Dallas based vibrant organization is co-hosting this Convention.
More than 300 volunteers met over the weekend at FunAsiA to review the progress of the convention. Murali Vennam, Convention Coordinator introduced more than 30 various committee chairs who in turn briefed their committees progress.
