CHICAGO: Kelvyn Darshan Thomas ,16, a student-athlete at Fenwick High School in Oak Park, a Chicago suburb, is a riding basketball star from the young Indian community in Chicagoland. Hehas been playing basketball from the age of five.
Darshan currently plays for Ronnie Fields Elite team and Team Y&R – both elite basketball AAU/Travel clubs.. He has played for many teams during last 10 years starting with Bensenville Park District & Bensenville Bombers, a DuPage County Youth Travel Basketball League. The teams which he has played with, has won many championships locally & nationally and have been recognized for their wins.
Darshan played basketball since he was in kindergarten and has never stopped. He wishes & trains to better himself for the level required academically & athletically to play at a D1 collegiate level along with his current focus to major in International Business Management. Along with Basketball, he played Volleyball and enjoys Golf. He also learned to play Alto Saxophone from 5th to 7th grade in his middle school’s music band. Math is one of his favorite subjects
Some Highlights of the victories: During Darshan’s 8th grade Boys Basketball season 2019-2020 at Blackhawk Middle School in Bensenville, the middle school team advanced to compete in the West Suburban Middle School Conference championship for the for the first time ever in the school’s history and placed 2nd .
In March 2019, Integrity & Legacy Hoops – 7th grade 12U Boys competed at Illinois State Middle School Championship in Rockford, IL and placed 4th in Illinois. On August 11th, 2019, Team Illinois 13U won the National Championship in Cartersville, Georgia, against 14 other states in their respective age brackets. Team Illinois has won additionally 6 national championships since then. On Feb 16th, 2020, Integrity & Legacy Hoops competed in the Jr NBA 3v3 Chicago Tournament for 8th grade Boys, after earning their way to Navy Pier for the competition and placed 2nd overall in the city of Chicago. Darshan was named the MVP for his sophomore year basketball season at Fenwick in 2022, leading his team to 1st Place in the Chicago Catholic League – Blue Division
