SAN FRANCISCO, CA: There has been a great response to the Dharma and Yoga Fest organizers’ call for volunteers for the upcoming Dharma & Yoga Fest on September 14.
Over 300 volunteers showed up to participate in volunteers’ orientation to ensure smooth execution of the Dharma & Yoga Fest. The team visited the respective venues (Mission College and Alameda County Fair Ground) to understand the layout and logistics of the event.
Volunteers assured that the attendees will have the best of experience. The participants have been requested to check-in at the registration desk and enjoy the event.
There has been good progress for the Shri Krishna Leela also to be performed by kids who were going through final dress rehearsal.
The Hindu Theme Park committee has come up with exciting activities for children. These are: Bharat Darshan Yatra, a unique way for children to visit various booths to learn about different regions of India and its language while collecting stamps in the passport book to win a gift. Hindu Character Parade where children will be able to enjoy and take pictures with various characters of India and of Hinduism.
Other activities will include Carnival games, Arts and Crafts, Art Contest, Magic Show, Laughing Yoga and Face painting.
Youth participants will be inspired by speakers such as Nipun Mehta (TED Talk Speaker), David Frawley, renowned Vedic Scholar, felicitation of young achievers and panel discussion on Practicing Dharma and Yoga in Modern Day. Youth team will take up a unique Indian style Ganesh procession and Dandia.
Confirmed dignitaries for Raja Yoga session include Yogacharya Ellen Grace O’Brian, Spiritual Director of the Center for Spiritual Enlightenment, Michael Yankaus, Co-Director of the Transcendental Meditation (TM) Center, Palo Alto, CA and Ashwini Surpur who is an experienced and passionate yoga teacher with Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga Therapy from Vivekananda Yoga University (SVYASA), Bangalore, India and is the Director of Yoga Therapy at Yoga Bharati.
Bhakti Yoga participants will experience soul stirring music from Jai Uttal, bhajans by famous Indian singer Anuradha Paudwal and hip hop Bhakti music from MC Yogi along with many more artists – all this to elevate you to a new sphere of spiritual experience.
There will be enlightening spiritual / Intellectual discussion of Swami Vivekananda and Jnana yoga, relevance of Atma-Jnan and Native American prayer and blessings.
The speakers include Paramacharya Sadasivanatha Palaniswami, one of the stewards of Saiva Siddhanta Church, Himalayan Academy and Hindu Heritage Endowment. Sannyasin Senthilnathaswami, a member of the Ganapati Kulam, assists Bodhinatha, Paramacharya Sadasivanathaswami and Acharya Kumaranathaswami in the editing, design and production of publications. Yogashree N.V. Raghuram is the Spiritual Founder and Chairman of Yoga Bharati and Vedacharya David Frawley (Pandit Vamadeva Shastri) is a western born teacher in the Vedic tradition.
As Swami Vivekananda said, “They alone live who live for others”. Karma Yoga, basically, spirit of action will be braced by real life examples of how one can take action for the greater good.
Inspiring speakers include Dr Bidyut Bose, PhD, Founder and Executive Director of Niroga Institute; Dr Sailesh Rao Executive Director of Climate Healers, Murali Krishnamurthy of Sankara Eye Foundation, Dr Arutselvan Natarajan of Sewa International and Dr Bikul Das of International Center for Cultural Studies.
