Chicago: Members of Jain community gathered in huge numbers at Bartlett Jain temple to celebrate one of the most popular Indian festivals – Diwali: the Festival of Lights – on Friday November 10.
Besides the traditional celebration of the festival, the Jain Society of Metropolitan Chicago, the host, also decided to have it synchronized with the Appreciation Dinner for its members. The Bartlett auditorium was packed with about 600 people participating.
JSMC had scheduled a weeklong celebration of Diwali covering spiritual, ritual and entertainment spectrum. The events were celebrated in the company of spiritual leaders like Swami Shrutpragyaji and Hitesh Bhai Vidhikar with religious discourses. Various Diwali rituals were scheduled from November 5 to November 14. On November 9, a Dinner and Entertainment program was scheduled. This was followed with Laxmi Poojan on Nov 10, a Havan of Ghantakaran Vir on Nov 11 and Bhakti Sangeet (Bhavna) program on the evening of New Year Day of Nov 14.
