KeralaFest is a biennial celebration of culture and cuisines of Kerala. It’s jointly organized by 22 organizations that have roots to Malayali culture in one way or another. The group includes folks from the social, cultural, religious, sports and arts spectrum, irrespective of caste, religion or political affiliations. Keralafest 2024 was celebrated on May 18 at India Community Center. Deputy Consul General Mr. Rakesh Adlakha inaugurated the KERALA Festival held in ICC, Milpitas, in the presence of a number of dignitaries from various City Councils as well as leaders of other community organizations such as FOG, AIA and others.
The event transported all those gathered (around 2000) to a different world that is Kerala, a southern state in India. Most of the Keralites, or Malayalis, in the SIlicon Valley had gathered under one roof to celebrate the festival. The cultural program showcased Kerala’s traditional and cultural hues in the dances, songs that were presented. The main aim was to provide a platform for our children to exhibit their cultural prowess, which they’ve learnt and nurtured here, far away from their ancestral roots. Highlight performances include Chenda melam, Panchari melam, Thiruvatira, Kerala natanam and Mohiniyattam.
