Aman Nindra
Venue: Oct 15, 2022, FOG Diwali fair at Fremont High School.
Participants of Ram Darbar & Parade – Aman Nindra (Ram), Mughda Sharma (Seetha), Anshul Nindra (Hanuman), Rishit Gupta (Lakshman) I heard about the need for kids to volunteer to represent Ram, Sita, Lakshman, and Hanuman from the Ramayana at the FOG Diwali fair on October 15th at Fremont High School. I began collecting Rama’s characteristics, and we began working on the team.
My parents assisted in putting together the perfect costumes for the characters. We were dressed in the special royal costumes of Ram, Lakshman, Sita, and Hanuman on the day of the event. The day appeared to be very special. We were in the parade with the Grand Marshal, Omi Vaidya, our parents, several other people, and musicians. We were overjoyed and excited to meet Grand Marshal Omi Vaidya, best known for his role as ‘Chatur Ramalingam’ in the Bollywood film 3 idiots. After the parade, we blessed everyone who came to meet the Ram Darbar team.
FOG presented us with a Certificate of Appreciation. We felt honored to be depicting the Hindu God, and it provided us with another opportunity to serve thecommunity. This was a truly unique opportunity for us to learn about and share the rich Indian Hindu culture in Fremont, California.
It was overall a great experience in participating at the Diwali Fair as I learn about the characters of Ramayana and serve the community.
On Diwali
Diwali a Hindu festival of lights is held in the period of October to November. It is particularly associated with Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity and marks the beginning of the fiscal year in India. The day is celebrated as Rama defeat Raavana and returns his home in Ayodhya. Rama was the son of Dasharatha in Ayodhya, the ruler of the Kingdom of Kosala. His siblings included Lakshmana, Bharata, and Shatrughna. He was married to Daughter of Janak, Sita. Raavan, the ten-headed evil had abducted Sita from during Vanvas (time spent out of the kingdom in the forest) time.
Ram fought with Raavan and killed Raavan. Lakshman, Hanuman and his army helped in the war against Raavan. The auspicious day of Diwali is considered as the victory of peace over evil and is celebrated in the form of Dussehra and Diwali.
