The event commenced with yoga exercises conducted by Yoga Instructor Yashpal Singh lasting for about 45 minutes. During the session, various types of yoga exercises were conducted followed by a message about the benefits of each exercise. The Yoga session was followed by a talk on Yoga by Ms. Prerna Arya, Teacher of Indian Culture at the Consulate and a spiritual discourse by Rana Singh, spiritual devotee of the Nirankari Mission. The spiritual discourses were followed by bhajans and devotional songs.
Indian Consul and Head of Chancery D.B. Bhati briefed attendees about celebration of 4th International Day of Yoga in detail. He said this year the Yoga Day will be celebrated in collaboration with the City of Chicago and Chicago-Delhi Sister-City Relations Committee. The event will be inaugurated at 11 am in the presence of dignitaries, government officials, community leaders and Yoga followers. This would be followed by practice of common yoga protocol and other yoga activities.
He also mentioned about the extra-ordinary efforts made by Consul General Ms. Neeta Bhushan for securing Millennium Park as the venue of 4th International Day of Yoga. He strongly pitched community members to come and join the Consulate at Millennium Park in order to make the event a mega success. He also urged all the Community organizations and media partners to extend whole-hearted support in celebrating International Day of Yoga.
