Kannada Koota of Northern California, a prominent organization promoting Kannada language and culture in California, celebrated its 50th anniversary in a two-day extravaganza on Sep 23 and 24, 2023 at Chabot College, Hayward. Around two thousand members of the community attended the two-day event, making it a runaway success. The event was a tribute to the rich cultural heritage of the Kannada language and tradition and featured a variety of local cultural programs, including music, dance, and drama. It also showcased Karnataka’s rich and diverse cuisine.
We are thrilled to have successfully celebrated our 50th anniversary with such a large and enthusiastic turnout,” said Sharmila Vidyadhara, President of KKNC. “Our organization has been working tirelessly to promote the Kannada language and culture in California for Five decades, and we are proud of our achievements. We are grateful to everyone who supported us and made this event a grand success.”
Member of the erstwhile Mysore royal family Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar was the Chief Guest for the anniversary event. Dr.Gururaj Karjagi, Dr.V.Ravichandran, Daali Dhananjay, Nagabhushana, Heroine Harshika Poonacha, Multiple Bands (Raghu Dixit and Team, Anoop Seelin & Band), Comedy Kiladigalu/Artists, Sand Artist Raghavendra Hegde,and many others graced the occasion.
Karnataka is famous for its exclusive cuisine. Food from various parts of Karnataka was planned for the 2 days and an elaborate spread of cuisine was presented, including delicacies like Holige, Bisi Belebath, Peda, Rasam, Payasam and many more.
The 50th-anniversary celebration was a milestone event for the organization, and they look forward to continuing their work in promoting Kannada culture and language in the years to come.
